Building the Capacity of Deaf Communities through Applied Sign Linguistics
We are pleased to announce the draft programme for our 1st March workshop, ‘Building the Capacity of Deaf Communities through Applied Sign Linguistics’, which will be held in Greenbank Lecture Theatre at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston, UK.
The workshop covers areas such as literacy, corpus-informed teaching, and assessment, and will include invited guest speakers from the UK and internationally (including Jordan, India, Canada, and the Czech Republic). The programme includes presentations, group discussions, hands-on activities, information/book stalls and a panel discussion featuring national and international Deaf Community representatives alongside academics. The discussion panels will be chaired by a number of internationally renowned academics and community leaders.
Interpreting will be provided, and the workshop will be accessible in spoken English, International Sign and British Sign Language. The workshop is free of cost, and everyone is welcome to attend.
