iSLanDS village sign language research appears in Boston Globe
The iSLanDS Institute’s research on village sign languages was covered this week in an article in the Boston Globe, ‘Village sign languages, vanishing fast’ . The article mentions our recent book Sign Languages in Village Communities: Anthropological and linguistic insights, published by De Gruyter Mouton and Ishara Press. This is the fourth volume in our Sign Language Typology series.
We are continuing this research strand by putting village sign languages into UNESCO’s Atlas of the World’s Languages in Danger for the first time.
