Sign Language Typology Project Update

9 November, 2011

We’d like to update you on the progress of our SLT Project on numbers and colours. We have now received video data and questionnaire papers from Estonia and Poland.  The structure and forms of numbers in Polish Sign Language is different to what we have observed in other sign languages so far.

We are interested in seeking permission from our participants to post some of the video examples onto our iSLanDS website.

More information will be posted shortly as we we receive more data. We are expecting data from Iceland, Norway, and Indonesia in the near future.

At the Sign Language Typology Workshop at the Sign5 conference in Turkey last month, we had the wonderful opportunity of meeting new prospective participants from Brazil and Argentina, and to talk with our current participants from Albania and Kosovo. This enabled us to explain in greater detail about the aims and processes of the project, face to face with our valued participants.
