New Sign Language Typology project up and running
We have been flooded with requests for participation in our new Sign Language Typology project on semantic fields. Within 2 weeks, people from 30 countries have already contacted us to participate! Thanks to everyone who has spread the message – the World Federation of the Deaf, the SignWriting list, colleagues with their personal networks, etc. We didn’t expect this rate of response, but are very happy to work with you all. This time, we are planning to set up mentoring partnerships between project participants, matching experienced researchers with new researchers. This could be a good way to enable sign language research to grow in countries where it is relatively new, and research networking is one of the aims of doing Sign Language Typology research. The project manager for this project is Keiko Sagara.
